Job Description
INDEPENDENT CLINICAL SERVICES are currently looking for an A&E Specialty Doctor to work for a Foundation Trust the South West of England. This is a permanent post and the Trust are looking for someone to start as soon as possible. The Trust would consider applications from candiates requiring sponsorship.DUTIES OF THE POSTThe Specialty Doctor will share with other senior staff the responsibility for providing an emergency service of the highest possible standard. All encouragement will be given to the Specialty Doctors to further any clinical or research interest they may have.(a)Provisional Weekly ProgrammeThis is a 4 week duty plan which will be discussed with the successful applicant. The post is for 44 hrs per week, and includes one PA (session) for continuing professional development, and inclusion in the night-time senior rota within the department.(b)The Specialty Doctor must maintain liaison with his/her colleagues who are on duty immediately before and after him/her to ensure adequate communication and continuity of patient care. (c)The Specialty Doctor accepts that she/he will also perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the Consultant, in consultation, where practicable, with his colleagues both senior and junior. It has been agreed between the professions and the Department that while juniors accept that they will perform such duties the Secretary of State stresses that additional commitments arising under this sub-section are exceptional and, in particular, that juniors should not be required to undertake work of this kind for prolonged period or on a regular basis.(d)The Specialty Doctor is responsible to the Consultants for ensuring that the Department is adequately covered by juniors in the unavoidable absence from duty of colleagues.REQUIREMENTSSpeciality Doctors must be fully registered with the GMC and must have at least 3 years full time regular hospital service as SHO or above of which at least 6 months must be in the speciality of Emergency Medicine (formerly Accident & Emergency).The appointment is being made with the intention of improving the service provided to patients in the Emergency Department. There are additional pressures on the Department to treat patients within the national target for length-of-stay in the ED, and this post has been added to help to achieve the target whilst improving the quality of patient care.REMUNERATIONSalary is between £36443 and £67959 depending on experience, plus benefits.If you are interested then please apply as soon as possible and the Recruiter will contact you to discuss the post further.
